🎵In and around the lake, mountains come out of the sky,and they stand there! 🎵

******Beginning of Part Four******

We come to the home stretch of 37 anime I binged in one month! And we fall into the vortex that is “the thirties” and . . . yuck! What is that bitterness in my mouth? Is it the taste of #30 . . .?!

30# My Stepmom’s Daughter is My Ex

“OMG! Get over it you vile, hateful, bitter pieces of garbage! You two tried to date in middle school and of course things did not work out. It was no one's fault, you two are just socially awkward baka and need to move on! Shit!”

Yeah, that was how I felt throughout this whole anime. I know some people might like it and this was definitely a hate watch for me. So, as the title implies, high school guy’s dad remarries and his new mom’s daughter is his ex-girlfriend.

I vaguely remember this but man-oh-man was this a hard watch at times. The two leads are trying to one up each other and fail so hard at it. And it is very clear they want to get back together. And they drag others into their bullshit battles and it's just a cynical rom-com without charm.

I’m actually surprised I watched it in full. Maybe because I was hoping for something interesting? Maybe the supporting cast was interesting? I really have no excuse other than maybe the lead girl reminded me of a girl I had a thing for back when I was in high school(?) Maybe that was it? I don’t know. And I don’t think I would come back to this one.

Oh, Like, You-betcha!

31# Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable

OMG! I absolutely loved this one! It easily has become a new fav for me. It follows one city teenager who moves to the Hokkaido prefecture, which is the farthest northern piece of Japan. And it's winter when this guy moves to the area and it is snowy and cold and oh so familiar.

I live in western New York and that opening scene with the lead walking through the snow just made me relate to him more. And he’s an awkward but well meaning guy who is down on his luck. So he moved to his grandmother’s neighborhood to start anew.

On his way to school, he meets a gyaru (Japanese equivalent of a valley girl) at a bus stop and they immediately hit it off. Now, the gyaru is voiced in the english dub by someone putting on a Minnesotan accent which just adds to how adorable she is. I think they did this because people in Japan from different prefectures have varying accents.

Often an anime character from Osaka will have an English voice actor put on a southern accent to illustrate that she is from the southern part of Japan. And I could not help but be charmed by the Minnesotan accent. I’m not sure what hardcore anime fans feel about this practice but I think it's fun.

Anyway, the lead guy meets two other gyaru and makes friends with them. But it is a rom-com and all three girls fall for this guy, who is clueless to their feelings. I can’t hate on this guy though, he tries to make the most of his new life and if even a third of what he does in Hokkaido is something they actually do there, it looks like a lot of fun.

This is a solid anime to just chill and relax and enjoy. It was a welcome change after #30, that one left a bitter taste in my mouth. I still taste it. Blah!

32# Our Dating Story: You Were Experienced, I Was Not

I had to look this one up to recall. I know I watched it recently and in full. But it was so generic that I might as well have forgotten what happened in it. I know there is a gyaru who is popular with everyone and is notorious for having short flings with many guys. And there is this geek who confesses he likes her, all because his fellow geek buddies forced him to because he lost a bet.

But a twist! The gyaru accepts this geek’s feelings. And they go on dates.

And how in the heck was her being experienced and him being the inexperienced one relevant? It comes up, it is a fact that she has been dating and he has not. But it does not at all affect their dates or their joy of being with each other.

I think it was at this point where my mind just could not retain anymore anime. I was starting to lose my sanity to the void. I started into the abyss and the abyss had big eyes.

I think this one was okay, the guy and girl have a good cry at the end because they genuinely liked each other and it was refreshing to see the leads actually break down around each other and bond. But I don’t know, I am trying but all I remember is that scene where she doubts the relationship, she wants to break up, and he breaks down but she breaks down too and they remember all the good times and stay together. Drama! More like melodrama.

I am sure this one was someone’s favorite but I don’t think I’ll be watching it again. I know #30 can’t be someone’s fav. So bitter, I am. Like a Nintendo Switch Cartridge! Blah!

33# Magical Sempai

So this is one I came back to. I watched it a year back and was in the mood to watch it again. Each episode is half the length of a typical anime and it's all about this high school girl and her junior trying to do magic tricks. And she often fails at doing magic. And hijinks ensue!

Now the lead girl has this goof expression on her face all the time but she has a killer bod. I am not joking, look her up, it's an interesting contrast between her face and body. And even in episode one, she is an awful magician and you wonder why the junior sticks with her. But soon you understand why the young junior.

Often the clumsy magical girl tries to do a magic trick and ends up getting her clothing entangled or panties exposed. The junior, whose name is Assistant apparently, watches on as hot Sempai accidentally shows off her sexy body to him. It is meant to be for laughs and it is funny, but Assistant even wonders if the Sempai is doing it on purpose to flirt with him.

My favorite moment is when this young high school guy imagines his hot older classmate in a super sexy succubus cosplay. I seriously laughed so hard at that moment the first time I saw it that I had to stop the anime and get all the chuckles out. Fun fact, I based Lenore’s design from “The Last Job: File 3454” after that sexy cosplay. Although, I dressed Lenore more respectfully then the Assistant imagined his Sempai.

While Sempai does not do anything sexy on purpose, she just fails at doing magic tricks, is super clumsy, and gets into sexy hijinks unintentionally. Good thing real magic does not exist in this world, because Sempai might burn the school down while casting fireball. Actually, she does almost burn the school down anyway with mundane magical tricks, so yeah.

This is a hilarious ride that is half the time of a typical anime. It’s a quick watch that has some clumsy sexy moments but is overall harmless and hilarious. And there is a science girl who teaches actual magic tricks using science, so it is also educational.

Oh and BTW, it’s spelled “Senpai” not “Sempai” but this anime says otherwise.

"You could kill a man though those . . . oh, no!"

34# Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Spring

My brain is just filled with big eyes and big bouncing boobs. And yet I still watched another anime. Seriously though, I sat through this one because the first episode made me gut-bust laugh and I was intrigued with its story. But I knew as I watched this that I needed a break from anime.

This is one of those anime where there is one super special guy and a lot of sexy supernatural girls. And the guy often gets into clumsy situations with sexy results. But it also has him be a total badass and kick a lot of badguy’s butts. He even defeats a dragon. Typical fantasy harem fare, ha!

Throughout the show, the guy tries to help spirits move on to the afterlife. But also he is in a romantic relationship with the lead girl, Yunna, who is a ghost girl with big boobs. There is a cat girl who is aloof and adorable. A tanuki girl who is obsessed with big boobs. A hot tsundere ninja girl with big boobs. A hot and drunk oni girl with really big boobs. And a cute high school redhead girl with big boobs. And . . . umm, boobs! Yeah! Just bounce away!

🎵“Come bounce away, come bounce away, come bounce away with meeee! Yeah!” 🎵

If I found this anime when I was a teenager, it would have easily been a fav. For obvious reasons. But now that I am older and had marathoned through over thirty anime before this one, it just became samey and generic and it all blends together. Despite all of that, I still laughed here and there from this show.

It is innocent enough for what it is. I know it's odd to say a harem anime with so many bouncing boobs is innocent but some harems get really raunchy with their female leads. And this does too (boob) but (boob) not in a (boobs) and . . . what was I doing? My brain is just rotting from the inside out. What was I saying? Oh right! This gave me a few good laughs, but it's another typical harem anime.

This is the giant (boob) straw that broke my back. I knew after this show concluded I needed a break from anime. My brain needed a rest from big eyes and big boobs. I love bouncing anime but my sanity needed a long vacation.

OMG, I have reached the end! I did not think I would reach the end of this whole project but here we are. 34 anime I have ranted about and I’d say more than half I enjoyed and would go back to watch again. Although, there is more to discuss before wrapping things up. I did watch anime before bedtime and typically, I watch something low key and only one episode a day.

Bedtime Watch: These are the three anime I watched for bedtime during the month I binged all the other 34 anime on the list.

35# Is the Order A Rabbit?

Crunchyroll only had season 3 of this and I have no idea what it was about. I guess a high school girl owns her family cafe and her friends help her run it. There is a cat-ball thing that I think is her grandfather or something?

It was just an excuse to get anime girls into fun outfits and have wacky (but safe) adventures. Honestly, if I was not standing while watching this, I could have easily fallen asleep. This had excitement at times but was mostly a relaxing slice of life tale.

36# Slow Start

So, I have wondered what happens to a Japanese student if they cannot graduate. I assumed they get held back and come to find out, they do. Due to an illness, the lead in this anime is held back for one year. And she is so embarrassed by this she moves in with her cousin and starts fresh at another high school.

She makes friends and has cute slice of life adventures. But I have to say, as innocent as this anime is, it is not shy about boobs and panty shots. Seriously, the show references the cousin’s giant boobs all the time and there are conversations where the girls get kind of raunchy.

For how innocent the animation is, I often forget that anime will get sexy even with anime aimed at high school girls. There is this subplot where one of the girls has a crush on her teacher (woman BTW) and it's kind of played for laughs but at times feels like a legit rom-com.

It was an interesting watch before bed. Most of the time it was laid back enough to help me settle down and fall asleep. And then the cousin gets into a bikini and I question my viewing choice.

🎵“Bounce, bounce, bounce! And bounce some more!” 🎵

Episode 4 is the greatest episode of anime ever!

37# My Love Story!!

OMG!! This is a super fav of mine and it is in my top list of anime. I have seen it before and as I take a break from anime, I still wanted to watch one before bedtime. And this is perfect. It is by far one of the oddest yet sincere and charming rom-coms the world of anime has to offer.

It is about this giant and super tough high school guy Takeo Gōda and his growing romance with petite and adorable high school girl Rinko Yamato. I almost do not want to spoil anything because a lot of this anime is so good that I want others to see it.

Takeo is the kind of character that I enjoy seeing because he does all this superhuman stuff when he himself is not a hero, supernatural, or a superhero. He is just an average high school kid who is super big, super strong, and super clueless.

And Yamato is so sweet and bashful you cannot help but find her endearing. The stuff she bakes looks so good that it has to be a crime. And you get why she falls for Takeo and why he loves her so much. I watched all 24 episodes and was super sad when the series ended. I kind of wanted there to be a spin off with Takeo and Yamato’s kids go through their own high school romance.

I highly recommend this one.

In Conclusion#

Well, that concludes this long but liberating look back at what anime I watched during my recuperation. And I watched most of this while standing on my own two feet. I want to say by #32 I was trying to sit in ten minute bursts at a time. December of 2024 was an experience and one I hope to not repeat in the future.

The anime was at least a fun distraction, for the most part. And I learned something about myself. I can endure a lot when it comes to things to watch. A good number of these anime I had seen I would not watch again. And I avoided any that were long running like One Piece and Bleach. Not to say I would not enjoy those anime, quite the opposite. I would marathon those if I found them interesting enough.

I think the dangerous thing about anime is that the animation and art style is always different between each show. So each episode feels new and exciting in its own way from the start. Anime is one of those things I get hook on and hook on hard. I used to be addicted to youtube videos and I avoid going back to the site to not fall down that rabbit hole again.

But anime is a terrifying rabbit hole too. One that has a hot chick in a bunny outfit with big blue eyes and flowing red hair and G-cup bouncing boobs and tight black stockings that hug her legs and thighs and . . . and . . . Where am I going with this again?

Yeah, I need a break from anime. A long one too. I wonder what’s on Netflix lately? Probably more anime.

I’m going to go have some green tea and yakisoba and I have none of that available to me and need a huge break from anime (and) Japanese culture in general. I am so in the mood for sushi right now. With salmon and tuna and crab and . . .

Wow, I’m just going to (Crunchy)roll credits here with some j-pop and call it.

And it might as well be the ending song from a fav from this list:

Good Luck and watch where you step, you may run into a giant pair of big boobs,

PS: This whole thing ended up being 22 pages long and I may [will be] breaking it up. Just under 9000 words long and yeah, I had a lot to say. And a lot of fun reliving some of these anime. And thank you for reading all of this nonsense. I hope you had some good laughs and check out some of the shows from the list. Perhaps you will find your new fav . . .

PPS: If you are on youtube for the video I linked at the end, send a link to my website in the comments. This is an experiment I want to try and see where this goes. Do not spam or be trolley, please. And enjoy “Shiawase no Arika” by Local Connect on loop!
