Also using the old DANK keyboard buttons, it's been a while.
Some Fallout Fun Before Getting Existential

Well, today is Tuesday the 15th and it is my last day of vacation. And nothing of writing was accomplished 😞. And honestly, I only have myself to blame. But I will admit, I got a lot of cleaning done, a lot more than I expected. And despite how quickly this week has gone by, I at least can look back and know I accomplished something productive. And truth be told, especially lately, I have not been very motivated to write.

I’m not entirely sure why either. I enjoy writing, I talk a lot about how much I love it all the time on this blog. And yet, this last week, heck, these last few weeks, I’ve done very little. I keep putting it off, get distracted by anime and video games, and let work drag me down. I’m pretty sure I’m close to 100 blogs too and I got nothing special planned for the 100th blog.

Writing this blog right now only feels like an obligation. I’m not very motivated today either. I did see the recent Superman movie directed by James Gunn and I could dedicate a blog to talking about that like I did with the recent marvel movies. Which I might, hopefully after this blog is done to get more writing in.

Anyway, enough being sad, let us move on to more positive news.

I am ready to sell comic books and yet I have a major hurdle to moon jump over. I got in touch with a representative from mycomicshop.com and they gave me some information on the process of selling my collection. And this in itself is going to be a long project. I have to catalogue what I am parting with and then hope most of it is on mycomicshop’s want list. Because I collected comics mostly published from the 1990s, there is little demand for them because there were just so many published during that time.

In the 1980s, comics like Action Comics #1 (first appearance of superman) and Detective Comics #27 (first appearance of Batman) were selling for big money. This kicked off the Speculation Collectors Market and publishers like DC and Marvel were creating these elaborate events to capitalize on the new interest in comic book collecting. And they published those books on-mass with everyone thinking those comics would be worth big money someday.

I recommend a well made series on youtube by sfdebris called the Rise and Fall of the Comic Book Empire. I occasionally visit this series to remind myself that I grew up during a huge heyday of the comic book industry and nothing like it will happen again.

Part 1 but there is a fun minute long intro on the playlist

And wow, sfdebris made that series back in 2016, it’s almost a decade old. Damn, when did my favorite comic reviewer Linkara first . . . oh, and Linkara’s video on Blackest Night (his first video) was released in 2008 . . . why did I look that up? Now I’m feeling old because I was watching Linkara’s videos as he took off. And James Rolfe’s Angry Video Game Nerd series first released on youtube in 2006 . . . why am I looking stuff up that is making me sad right now? For nostalgia's sake? I’m reminiscing on stuff that I used to watch that is a decade or two now . . . wow!

You know, it is truly amazing the power the internet has given the human race. For one thing, we have all this information and communication power in our hands and can accomplish some wondrous things. On the other hand, there is a little emoji that sums up the other half of that: 💩.

ANYWAY, tangents aside, I hope to sell these comics before the year is done. My dream would be to sell them all in one go and have some space back. But this is shaping up to be a long project and I will likely be selling the collection by the box. I did enjoy collecting while it lasted, from 2017 to 2020 but damn, there are just so many comics for me to sell. I understand now why these old comics were so cheap to buy.

Good news is that I found a bunch of boardgames and geeky tat that were collecting dust and sold them to local gaming stores. And it was all thanks to my friend Zach’s encouragement and help. Maybe that is why I’m not motivated to write? I’m not getting much encouragement. But that is also my fault because I’m not outright seeking attention and feedback. I haven’t been on Bluesky for months and honestly, my sanity is all the better for it.

I guess that is my catch-22, I am a creative person who likes to write and creative people thrive on others enjoying their work. But I’m an anti-social person who is not motivated to share his work therefore not motivated to do anything with the hobby out of obligation to others.

I continued to do this blog because it gives me a reason to write and I do like doing it to a degree. And I do need to share this blog at some point on a social media site to at least get a few people on board with my madness. Then again, in some sad but bright and positive way, I am happy to shout into the void. At least the void doesn’t talk back . . . at least, not right now.

At least I got stuff done before going back to work. I was productive. And maybe, just maybe, after seeing such a long gap in my writing journal, I will finally be productive with writing again.

Good Luck and enjoy being productive on your own vacation, no matter what you do,

PS: Oh, since I made the dice tray pic Fallout theme, might as well update you on how I’m doing in Fallout Shelter. I maxed out my vault population and I’m close to maxing out the vault itself. Its been a lot of fun but the novelty is wearing off.

this is only half and even as the one who made it, it looks like a mad artist's painting.

Since I maxed out the vault’s population, I put Macdaddy Morgan in a separate room to keep him in check.

130/200 . . . that's more then half of my vault related this man. Damn!
After 130 babies, Machdaddy, I think these women deserve a break.

And these five have been my party of explorers, such a motley crew.

The max is 25 and soon, I will have more explorers!
Who is this Little Ceaser Gal in the back?
